SafetyDriven’s Webinar Mental Health – A Man’s Perspective is going Live! April 28, 2021

Statistics Canada reports that 97% of truck drivers are men. They also report that men make up 75% of the 4,000 completed suicides in Canada each year.

SafetyDriven’s webinar on mental health opens a discussion on this silent crisis and explores it from A Man’s Perspective, but it’s also important for the women in their lives.

Mental health must become a significant part of the transportation industry’s overall approach to safety and wellness. Human resource and safety professionals, managers, and drivers alike need to be engaged.

In this hour-long webinar, two speakers—both mental health advocates—will provide insight into mental health issues, personally from the trucking industry and professionally from the medical community.

Meet the Speakers:

DAVID K. HENRY

Truck Driver, Mental Health Advocate, Podcaster

In 2001, after many years of playing sports that cause brain injuries, David was involved in a severe accident and ended up with serious mental health challenges. David will tell you how he overcame his own bias against mental health issues and started to heal

Dr. JOHN OGRODNICZUK

UBC Professor of Psychiatry, Director of UBC’s Psychotherapy Program, Founder of HeadsUpGuys.org

Canadian transport drivers work under difficult circumstances, putting them at risk for a variety of physical and mental health issues. Hear from Dr. Ogrodniczuk about men’s challenges and the supports available to them.
