What is a Joint Health and Safety Committee?

A Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is a group of employers and employees working together to improve occupational health and safety in their workplace. WorkSafeBC and ESDC require a JHSC for all workplaces with 20 or more workers.

All new members must receive training on the duties and functions of the JHSC

Are you a new Safety Committee member?

Your Safety Committee is the foundation of your safety program. From it you build your health and safety program within your organization. This course shows you how to build and run your committee while covering applicable regulatory requirements, both federally and provincially.

Who this is for:

  • New and existing safety committee members
  • Worker health and safety representatives

This course fulfills WorkSafeBC’s (WSBC):

  • Required training for new JHSC members
  • Required training for new health and safety representatives
  • Eligible 8 hours of training for existing JHSC members

This course fulfills Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC):

  • Required training for new JHSC members
  • Required training for new health and safety representatives
