This document provides guidance on documenting workplace investigation reports related to refusals to work, in compliance with the changes to Part II (Occupational Health and Safety) of the Canada Labour Code, effective October 31, 2014. Employers are required to produce a written investigation report for each work refusal. If the issue remains unresolved, a separate investigation must be conducted by the Work Place Health and Safety Committee or Representative. Should the matter persist, it must be escalated to the Minister of Labour. While the Code does not mandate a specific format, this document suggests a structured approach to ensure clarity and completeness in reporting.
